data deletion instructions

this page explains how to request deletion of your data from open sign. it covers two scenarios: deletion of data we hold about you directly as a client, and deletion of data we hold via your connected Facebook or Instagram accounts.

option 1 — email request (recommended)

email [email protected] with the subject line "data deletion request" and include:

• your full name
• your business name (if you're an open sign client)
• the email address or phone number associated with your account
• the Facebook or Instagram username connected (if applicable)

we will confirm receipt within 2 business days and complete deletion within 30 days. we will email you a confirmation when deletion is complete. note that some records (billing, tax) we are legally required to retain.

option 2 — disconnect open sign from Facebook

if you have connected open sign to your Facebook account and want to remove our access:

• go to Facebook Settings → Business Integrations
• find open sign in the list
• click Remove

when you remove open sign from Facebook, Meta automatically notifies us with a deletion request. we will delete the associated data within 30 days and confirm via the status URL shown to you on Facebook.

option 3 — disconnect open sign from Instagram

Instagram Business accounts are managed through their connected Facebook Page. follow the steps in option 2; removing our access from the Page also removes access to the linked Instagram Business account.

what data we delete

• your client record, contact information, and account history
• SMS messages exchanged with us, photo uploads, and post drafts
• Facebook and Instagram tokens we hold on your behalf
• analytics and engagement data we have pulled from your connected accounts

what we are legally required to retain

we may retain billing records, tax records, and records required to defend against legal claims for the period required by applicable law (typically 7 years for tax records). retained records are stored securely and are not used for any other purpose.
